Reeses Pieces

By Heather Blanchette

The favorite snack of our Alien friend, E.T., was introduced in the US in 1980. Reese’s Pieces are made with no chocolate whatsoever, instead consist of a peanut-butter filling with a candy shell. Manufactured by the Hershey Company, Reese’s Pieces are colored yellow, brown and orange - designed to match the packaging (yum?). Read the rest of this entry »

Atomic Firebal

By Heather Blanchette

Ok, ok, get your head out of the gutter - we’re talking about the tongue-numbing, red-hot candy balls you got at the penny candy store as a kid.

Each Fireball begins with a single grain of sugar, and then the candy is whirled with additional sugar until it reaches its perfect size. Surprisingly, 720,000 Atomic Fireballs can be packaged daily, and each truckload shipped from the factory holds 2 million Atomic Fireballs. That’s a whole lotta hot! Read the rest of this entry »

Food Baby

Candy

By Heather Blanchette

Those of you know me know that I am a healthy looking, twenty something year old, who’s not very curvy. But only my roommates know the binge eating, late night snacking, tummy bulging me that wakes up at 5 PM.

I’m not sure how many of you actually know what a food baby is. Visualize a normal looking girl, who within 20-40 minutes has suddenly become three months pregnant, or in my case, practically in labor! Read the rest of this entry »

Banana Cream Pie Recipe

By Jordan Thompson

We haven’t really started to hit on Pie Recipes which could be important because Easter is coming up.  Banana Cream Pie’s are made with either a Pastry Dough Crust or a Graham Cracker Crust depending on what you you like or how you were brought up!  There is also the matter of the topping, which can be done with a Whipped-Cream or a Meringue both of which are pretty good.  Then if you like a little extra flavor to go with your Banana Cream Pie, I recommend putting some Crushed Graham Cracker Pieces over the top with some Caramel Topping lined across the top of the pie.
