Who has the best Cheese steak sandwich in Philly? The debate is on, is it Pat’s Steaks or Geno’s across the street? The cheese steak is claimed to be invented by Philadelphian Pat Olivieri in the 1930’s. His creation became so popular he opened his own restaurant on the intersection of Ninth Street and Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia we now know as the legendary Pat’s Steaks. Fourty years ago, Joe Vento founded Geno’s Steaks right across the street from the infamous Pat’s. Vento started the place with only six dollars, six rolls and a few hot dogs. The two have been in a fierce competition since, with the delight of hungry customers, of course. Pat’s Steaks and Geno’s Cheese Steaks since their first establishments have each popped up all around the city. There has been a huge debate on which cheese steak has been a favorite among college students.

As I was reading Real Simple magazine, I got really excited about an article describing a Burger King product that had come out in 1998. In the April 1 edition of USA Today, BK ran an ad to promote their new product, the “Left-Handed Whopper.” Read the rest of this entry »

You’ve all been there. You know what I’m talking about. That place you end up when nothing is going right and it seems like the entire world is shitting on you. You all know where you turn. You might say you turn to your friends, or even to psychiatric help, but you know where you end up, right where we all do, in your refrigerator.
I’m not here to help you fix your problems, or to help you find other stress relieving outlets. Instead, I’m going to share with you my favorite stress foods and why, in the hopes that the next time you’re stressed at least your tummy will be happy! Read the rest of this entry »

One of my best friends has a clever rating system for the Dunkin Donuts of the Northeast. He, a true Masshole, has traveled far and wide to find the best Dunkin Donuts in the state, and with his fantastic memory can remember which ones were great, which one’s really missed the mark and all those in between.
The one we hit up today was a 7 out of 10, which is a very adequate rating for him. Not only was the service relatively fast, although they did have to “look in the back” before they could tell me if they had a Coolata machine (skeevy), but they also got his order right. He’s convinced most Dunkies are out to kill him. Read the rest of this entry »

That’s right, I’m talking about the Jalapeño Popper. When you talk about breaded and deep fried cheese, most people think of the mozzarella stick. Well, most people are idiots because the Jalapeño Popper blows the mozzarella stick right off the appetizer sampler plate… On the outside they appear to be the same, although the mozzarella stick is a bit more phallic. On the inside however, they are worlds apart. What is in inside a mozzarella stick? Mozzarella of course… in fact, nothing but mozzarella. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s hard to believe that in this day and age a company like IN-N-OUT Burger could stay privately held! A staple as California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand, IN-N-OUT has over 150 locations and has one of the highest customer loyalties in the fast food industry. The food is great and the service is unmatched is the general consenses I recieve when I ask people what they think of IN-N-OUT Burger. Read the rest of this entry »

If you had asked me a few days ago which fast food restaurant is my favorite, I would have said Chick-fil-A, hands down. However, as of yesterday, I’m feeling a little guilty about my answer.
I’m sure most of you, aside from Jordan who has apparently been living underground his whole life, have eaten at a Chick-fil-A. You know how good their waffle fries taste, you wonder about the necessity of the strategically placed two, not three, pickles on the chicken sandwich and you ogle at the huge, delicious shakes (yet often choose not to order them because you feel guilty holding up the line for twenty minutes while the underpaid seven year old behind the counter makes it).
