Ben and Jerry's

Heather Blanchette

Meeting in gym class in 7th grade, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield became friends, and later business partners after completing an ice cream correspondence at Penn State. The first Ben and Jerry’s was opened in 1978 in a renovated gas station in Vermont. Read the rest of this entry »

Reeses Pieces

By Heather Blanchette

The favorite snack of our Alien friend, E.T., was introduced in the US in 1980. Reese’s Pieces are made with no chocolate whatsoever, instead consist of a peanut-butter filling with a candy shell. Manufactured by the Hershey Company, Reese’s Pieces are colored yellow, brown and orange - designed to match the packaging (yum?). Read the rest of this entry »

Nilla Wafers

By Heather Blanchette

Owned by Nabisco, Nilla Wafers (short for Vanilla Wafers - how creative, right?) are round, shortbread cookies with a hint of vanilla flavor. Other brands of cookies similar to Nilla Wafers are often called “Nilla Wafers” regardless of their actual name because, like Kleenex Tissues, the brand name has become synonymous with the product. Fudge

By Heather Blanchette

The only peanut butter I have found that offers my favorite peanut butter to peanuts ratio is Shaw’s brand Chunky Peanut Butter. This isn’t your normal peanut butter - this is literally a can of peanuts mixed with a small spoonful of smooth peanut butter. If I don’t have to chew my peanut butter then I’m not eating it - unless of course it’s peanut butter fudge. Read the rest of this entry »

brownie

By Heather Blanchette

1) So this one time, I tried to make mini brownies in a doll-sized cupcake tin - but it didn’t occur to me that they wouldn’t need to stay in the oven as long as the normal brownie tin would. Needless to say, it was probably a good thing that they got permanently stuck in the tin or I would have chipped a tooth! Read the rest of this entry »

Food Baby

Candy

By Heather Blanchette

Those of you know me know that I am a healthy looking, twenty something year old, who’s not very curvy. But only my roommates know the binge eating, late night snacking, tummy bulging me that wakes up at 5 PM.

I’m not sure how many of you actually know what a food baby is. Visualize a normal looking girl, who within 20-40 minutes has suddenly become three months pregnant, or in my case, practically in labor! Read the rest of this entry »

Banana Cream Pie Recipe

By Jordan Thompson

We haven’t really started to hit on Pie Recipes which could be important because Easter is coming up.  Banana Cream Pie’s are made with either a Pastry Dough Crust or a Graham Cracker Crust depending on what you you like or how you were brought up!  There is also the matter of the topping, which can be done with a Whipped-Cream or a Meringue both of which are pretty good.  Then if you like a little extra flavor to go with your Banana Cream Pie, I recommend putting some Crushed Graham Cracker Pieces over the top with some Caramel Topping lined across the top of the pie.
