Whoopie Pie Recipe
It’s not everyday that we get a submission that gets us so excited that we put on our party hats, but when someone has a legit recipe for Whoopie Pies it only right that we share it with the visitors of Tasty Madness. Let us know what you think of the recipe after you try it and also tell us if you added your own special touches to the recipe!
A fantastic Whoopie Pie
3/4 c white sugar
1/2 c margarine
1 egg
1 c milk
2 c flour
1 T baking soda
1 T cream of tartar
3 T cocoa
1 stiffly beaten egg white
3/4 c brown sugar
2 T cold water
Mix white sugar, margarine, egg, milk, cream of tartar and cocoa. Drop by teaspoons (these spread out a lot! make small dropfuls to control size) onto cookie sheet. Be sure to make an even number of “cakes”. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes
When cakes cool, make filling. Boil brown sugar and water for 3-4 minutes and then pour over beaten egg white. Beat until stiff.
Then combine cakes with filling to make whoopie pies.

The recipe isn’t complete and not explained properly. The cream of tartar in the batter? The cakes were too spread with a bitter after taste. Maybe if the recipe was written out clearly (the flour is missing, as is the baking soda) they would be better. It seems a LOT of cream of tartar and soda though. The batter started rising too much before it even got in the oven.
